Big Moon Blues

I've said it before and I'll say it again.  Some of my best days have been around the full moon.....and some of my toughest days have also been around a big moon.  If you are there when they are biting, it can be "epic".......but sometimes it is a long wait between "bite times"......

Last week was pretty good for me, several double digit days on the drum and 4 days with multiple tarpon bites, really, really good, but it was not good for everyone, with reports of tough fishing, but I guess I was hitting it right.  Today, I understood all about the tough fishing.  We did catch one giant drum in the morning and one drum for the afternoon trip, but that was about it.  Tarpon around the boat, but they were acting much more like tarpon......not biting.

Congrats to Tom Cat for putting one in the air today and my buddy Cully has hooked 3 this week.  Waiting on the Bull Pen to arrive on the scene and see what he can do with them.  As we get away from this big moon I think that the tarpon are going to get a case of the blues with some sore lips.   Drum fishing is going to fire back off after they rest a little from all the puppy drum making that went on the last few days.

No matter where you go in the world, at the best times, in the best locations, it's still fishing and hunting.
