report

No snooks today, but I did see the croc a cast away, head was about foot and a half long....big enough.

Offshore bite remains good for charter fishing, double digit shots at sails and consistent tuna for dinner.

Tournament report

Could not put it together on the last day and sunk down to about 11th place of 44 boats.   Still not a bad three days with more than 50 sailfish releases on the Dragin Fly

Congrats to the Tranquilo for winning the first leg of the Los Suenos Triple Crown Billfish Tournament with an impressive 66 sails and 3 marlin over 3 days.

Wow

only 4 fish at 1:30 and was able to add a very respectable 15 to it in the last couple of hours.   We're still in it and anything can happen.

Congrats to Capt. Bubba Carter on the Tijereta for banging out 35 sails today for the daily prize.

Capt. George,

I wanted to send you a report, enough ice to bust the lights off the trailer when you back in but the fish are thumping!

Here's the link

We're doing OK, good hook up ratio.  With marlin worth 500 points and sails worth 100, we're in the hunt, just one big bite away and two more days to get it.

Trout Report from Capt. Mitch

George I've been helping with a DMF tagging study on the Trout this Fall and Winter.  My goal was to tag fish in a lot of locations which I did accomplish.  This Fall I dotted the map from the Rock Jetty at the light across the Pamlico Sound up the Neuse River to New Bern and then bounced to the Pamlico river fishing my way out and ended on the Pungo.  Needless to say there were  fish in all locations and  I've covered a broad spectrum.    DMF said I could not tag anymore undersize fish.:)

I've watched these fish grow over the past several months and with the extended warm weather and mild winter has things looking good.

I'm not saying that all the Trout are small, there are some good ones in the mix (see attached).  So if your looking pullage things are promising, if your looking paperwork for the wall, things are also promising.

On to the cold snap, the  Rockfish are gonna bite, I can see the Stripers coming about as fast as I can unhook them.

Come get some, heater is on the boat..

CR fishing this week

This is pretty typical of our week.  Plenty of tunas that are big enough for everyone to get a turn.....or two.   Plus sailfish releases for all.

Got to go fishing

Started the day with 60 pound tunas eating rubber flying fish dangled from the outriggers.   Caught one nice un, pulled a couple off and caught 2 more in the 20-40 pound range.  The school scattered and we put out the billfish spread.   I made 7 beautiful sancochos (missed sailfish) in a row, but came on strong, ended up catching 8 out of 18 bites.  The boat had 30 bites or more and we had a "double digit" day.

In the office today.......
